Living With Acne
Did you know that over 17 million Americans have acne,
and that approximately 7 out of 10 teens are included in that? Unfortunately there is not
safe and guaranteed cure of acne but most likely it's not going to keep you from doing
anything physically so live it up! Just because you have acne doesn't mean you
can't exist!
What is more likely is
that the psychological effects will prevent you from getting on with your life, and from
having the self-respect which you deserve. If are very depressed, don't be afraid to seek
help from a friend, teacher, minister or professional counselor.
Here are some things to keep in
mind:
However you feel, whatever you feel like, whatever
you think you look like, keep in mind you are not the only person in your situation.
People who don't suffer from acne don't really know
it all! Most think that ridding of acne is just a simple trip to Eckerds and some
Clearasil when really we know that's not true! Ignore those who tease you about acne
because they know nothing about it.
One of the worst thing about acne is dealing with
other people's reactions. Let's face it, acne is a pretty disgusting disease, even your
best friend might not be able to help squirming at the sight - which isn't very comforting
to you! Hopefully they'll be sensitive enough not to go on about it too much. You may be
able to lessen negative reactions by reassuring people that acne isn't contagious.
You might think that ignorance and disgust is worse
than active nastiness or bullying, but being deliberately cruel to someone with acne just
isn't on. There is no excuse for bullying! Unfortunately, it does happen, and unless
you're still at school and can tell a teacher, there isn't much you can do about it. All I
can say is - don't believe anything they say. You know whether you're dirty or not, you
know whether you are doing your best to deal with your condition or not, the bully
doesn't. Try telling them that.
Try to avoid the temptation to not exist. Sitting in
your room is not going to help your acne your! Get out and party with your friends. Most
people with acne can at least find something that helps, so look on the bright side and be
happy when your acne disappears. Don't say "I still have acne" say "my acne
isn't as bad as it was".
Yes, the web is a great place to live so people won't
know you have acne. But there people out there just like you. SO LET'S ALL GET OUT AND
LIVE! Don't hide yourself behind the computer and the Internet.
